This week we learned about photos. We covered old photos and
all different aspects of enhancing and restoration. I was intrigued
to say the least.
As I share with you the steps I took, from beginning
to end, I hope you will be able to see the steps and techniques
I learned, while becoming familiar with PSP8's tools.
I'm making the images as small as possible so that they will
load easier for you, but if you want to see them in real time,
I started out with an old photo that was very yellow-orange,
with cracks and blotches.
<---orange
<---better
I scanned it using a 200 dots per inch, or pixel
resolution. I then cropped it, and resized it. After I worked
on the color cast that it had (by using adjust/brightness/contrast
and adjust/ color balance/fade correction) I went to work on
the imperfections. *note- I did the color adjustment BEFORE
the blemish corrections, so I could see it better, that yellow-orange
is hard on the eyes and unpleasant to look at !
<---blotches <---depth
I made some circles where there were scratches and blotches..
I also removed what may have been a power line across the top.
Using the Tool Ribbon setting on the Scratch Remover Tool, I
removed a few big light blotches. Then using the clone brush,
I removed the rest.
After that, I used the color balance/fade correction again,
to give some depth and clarity.
